Chef Andrew McLeod
Chef Andrew McLeod champions the modern Canadian cuisine movement. Integrating local and terroir-driven products from across the country with influences from Canada’s myriad of cultures gives his style a distinct place in Niagara’s flourishing food scene.
After spending years in the kitchens of some of Ontario’s finest restaurants, Chef McLeod opened the doors of his own restaurant in 2016. Located in downtown St. Catharines, Bolete features an evolving menu of inspired dishes and a curated wine and cocktail list in a restored 150 year-old building. In 2017, Bolete opened a summer location at Westcott Vineyard in Jordan. Chef McLeod gets to showcase another side of his culinary style with a custom-built wood-fired oven and grill.
Chef McLeod has participated in The PEI Shellfish Competition for several years. In 2015 he placed 2nd and was invited to return in 2016 where he was awarded 1st place in the Garland Canada International Chef Challenge.
Bolete is the newest gem located in a historic building in Downtown St. Catharines. Award-winning Chef Andrew McLeod’s menu features dishes to reflect Canadian cuisine, with his inspiration ranging from PEI to Northern Ontario to British Columbia. Seafood, including oysters, is delivered fresh from both the east and west coasts, cheeses from Ontario and Quebec, produce from the Niagara region.
The beverage list accents some of the best wines from Niagara, craft beers and signature craft cocktails. Large paintings adorn the walls, with local artists rotating their pieces every few months.
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and with the open concept kitchen making it feel more like you are having dinner at Chef’s home than in a restaurant.
There is also a private dining room for special events.
